July 21, 1903. Wm. W. Payne and Robt Sanders were duly ordained as Deacons. During revival services which began on the night of July 28th 1903 and continued one week. Assisted by Rev. Martin Ball of Springfield the following list of names joined by experience. J. R. Wilks, A. E. Wilks, W. A. Lawrence, Obe Groves, Felix Summerville, Charlie Jernigan, Adolphus Groves, Sam Austin, Davie Wright, Reuben Payne, Claud Groves, Joe Roark, Mattie Summerville, Maggie Wilks, Lizzie Jones, and Jennie Parks were all baptized with Dixon Payne who had joined previously the Church also received sister Ida Wright’s letter who had joined on credit of same. Pleasant Hill Church met in conference Saturday before 4th Sunday in August 1903. Sermon by pastor, John Merritt, Pearl Askew, Mary Lawrence, Nannie Stark, joined by experience. The following delegates were appointed to attend the association to be held at Sadlersville Church beginning Tuesday after the first Sunday in October 1903. Dixon Payne, Julius Gilbert, Sam Austin, Adolphus Groves, John Merritt. Bro. Aaron Pool was reported as being guilty of drunkenness he being absent his case was continued until next meeting. Dixon Payne, Bro Aaron Pool being present the Church extended him the right hand of Christian fellowship, while the audience sang the familiar song “How firm a Foundation”. Willie C. Groves and wife called for letters of dismission which was granted in due form. The Pastor retired and Rev. Dixon Payne was elected moderator by a unanimous vote of the house Rev. Shannon was called as Pastor for the year 1904 for the salary of $120.00. Conference closed.

By a vote of the Church the following recommendation was made on by the Deacons and adopted by the Church in due form.
Brethen, as Deacons of Pleasant Hill Church we desire to make the following recommendation. In as much a grievious accusation has been made against Bro Nick Sanders which is of a nature delicate for a mixed audience, we recommend a committee of five to be appointed to sit in council together with the Pastor of the Church, and that the Church empower the committee to investigate as to the accusation

Bro Robt Sanders was granted a letter of dismission. Bro Edgar Somerville was unanimously elected clerk. A request from Chestnut Grove Church for the ordination of Bro Dixon Payne to the full work of the ministry was heard. The time set for his ordination was on the evening of May 31 at 8 o’clock. The following churches was ask to sent their pastor and two brethren to take part in the ordination, Springfield, Gallatin, Orlinda, Mt Carmel, Providence and Chestnut Grove.

May 31, 1904, The Church met according to arrangement at 8 o’clock pm and after song and prayer the Church ask the visiting brethren to become a presbytery to examine Bro Dixon Payne whose ordination to the full work of the ministry had been called for. Brethren

J. B. Moody, Martin Ball, W. F. Shannon, W. J. Shannon, and J. E. Cook were organized a presbytery. Bro Moody conducted the examination which was entirely satisfactory and the Church ordered the ordination. Bro Moody preached from 2 till 2:15 the prayer was offered by Bro. Ball and the hands of presbytery were laid on. Bro Ball delivered the charge to the candidate and the benediction was pronounced by Bro Dixon Payne.

Brother Tom Wright & wife (sister Carrie) were granted letters of dismission to unite with Portland Baptist Church. Brother J. C. Wright and A. E. Austin, Ewing Jernigan, Henry Roark & Rev. W. C. Woodall were elected as messengers to represent the church in the Cumberland Association which convenes with the New Hope Church Sumner Co. beginning Oct 5th continuing three days. Sister Julie Roark joined the church and was baptized on Sunday, also Connie Cole Summerville and Rula Summerville were baptized at the same time having been approved for baptism first Sunday in August.
