had 2 children, Cloramae (abt. 1911), Flora (1912). Around 1912-1915, he got a
job in Knoxville. Supposedly he was murdered after working one week. Two of his
friends told Lizzie he was murdered for his pay check. When she menioned going
to claim the body they told her he was already buried. We are trying to find
out what really happened to Thomas. Did his friends murder him and hide the
body? Was he really murdered and the authorities never notified Lizzie
officially or send the body home for burial? Or did he simply leave his wife
and children? Any information will be appreciated. Thomas was born in Georgia

I have recently found my Cherokee Ancestor. He was born
Cherokee Tribe, Indian Terrtiory in 1815. He married 1835 to Elizabeth, don't
know her maiden name. I have him on 1850 census for Fannin Co., Ga. Also 1860
& 1870. On the U. S. census it said he was born in Va. What I am trying to
find out is what counties in Va. were part of the Cherokee Nation in 1815. I
have been told he was what Dragging Canoe called "Cousins", Delaware
Cherokee. Does anyone know about where the tribe was loccated before & after
1815? I would appreciate anything anyone might have on the Delaware Cherokee
tribe. Have been looking for months for information. My ancestor's name is
Layton, Leyton or Laten Hancock. Thank you.

Cherokee Nation and was strictly forbidden (by US Gov't) to white residents. He

Dotson's I have spoken with believe Ida HARRIS was a Cherokee Indian. Early in
the 80's I spoke with Mary DOTSON (married), daughter of Henry Dotson. She gave
me a picture of Henry and Ida, claiming Ida was a Cherokee. Ida had long black
hair below her waist, and a dark complexion. The name Ida J. HARRIS, along with
some penciled in Ida HARRIS are shown on the Index to Applications Submitted
for the Eastern Cherokee Roll of 1909 (Guion Miller Roll).. If you have any
information on Ida HARRIS, and her prior lineage, please contact me. The data
below, is from the book "Early Families of Vonore", in Tennessee.
