Trying to locate land in Polk
County that was an Ocoee grant of 160 acres described as the Northwest Quarter
of Section 29 of Township 1 in Range 2 East of the Meridian. That plat belonged
to GEORGE BAKER when he died intestate in 1847, then was bought at auction by
his son-in-law JOHN PEARCE (from Bradley Chancery Records). John Pearce was
living there in the 1850 census (Polk 4th Civil District), but had moved to
Bradley County by the 1860 census. How can I find the location and present
owner(s) of that land, given the loss of Polk County deeds prior to 1893?

I am searching for a William H

Cleveland, Bradley county in 1850 and had his first child a year later in Barry
county, MO. He was not found on the 1850 Bradley county census, so I find
myself at a loss as to where to turn to next. How do I ascertain whether this
is the CAMERON in Polk county that I am looking for? Any help or information
would be greatly appreciated as Ive been stuck on him for years. He met
an untimely death during the Civil War and Ive always wondered when and how he came
to be in MO...Did he parallel the migration routes, follow other family

history of my ggrandfather's, James Madison Martin, regiment, the 43rd
Tennessee Infantry, CSA, intend to publish which will include a complete
roster, by individual companies, including as much pertinent biographical
information possible on each of the soldiers. He had three brothers in
Co. K including Issac Martin who died at Vicksburg. I have the national
archives microfilm rolls of the regiments service records, Official Records of
the War, Tennesseans in the Civil War, and most of the basic reference
works . Since most official confederate army records did not survive, I am looking
for letters, diaries, momentos, photos, papers, histories, etc., Any help you
can provide would be greatly appreciated. A memorial ceremony will be conducted
on Confederate Memorial Day, April 26, 1998 (I believe) at the Vicksburg, Miss.

I was wondering if possibly the Cherokee Nation/people may have made some

think he was one of the twins left orphans be a tornado either in Polk or

killed a whole family other than twins Joseph and Isaac any time during that
time frame. Isaac supposedly was two years old when tornado killed family, so
if his census birthdate is correct he was b. 1831 thus the 1833 approximate
