HOOKER FAMILY CEMETERY
This cemetery is located on Sand Mountain Road, about 3 miles East of Old Fort,
on the Tom Dunn Farm. This is close to the Ball Play area. The cemetery is said
to have been established by Cornelius Hooker prior to the Civil War. It was
discontinued before the turn of the century. The WPA records reported in 1940
that the cemetery contained the graves of Cornelius Hooker, Elendar Hyde Hooker,
and an infant of Mr. & Mrs. Benny Dunn. Today the cemetery is in a very wooded
area, and surrounded by Bowater land.
