Private, Company C, Third Tennessee Cavalry. Died in Regimental Hospital at Murfreesboro,
Tennessee, February 28, 1863, of the measles.
Claim for pension on Apr. 8, 1867, by dependent mother Nancy C. Culberson, a widow, residing
at Wolf Creek, NC, but Post Office at Ducktown, Tennessee.
(William Culberson father of soldier and husband of Nancy C. Culberson, died in 1855)
Attorneys: Tucker & Sells, Washington, D.C.
Witnesses: Attesting witnesses were Thomas C. Boyd and his bro-in-law, James M. Charles
Post Office: Later changed to Morganton, Fannin County, Ga but still residing in Cherokee
County, NC
Affidavits: Were filed signed by Elisha Culberson & Dolph Collins.
Pension: $8 per month from March 3, 1863 was approved on June 2, 1879, or 12 years after
claim was filed.
Drop: Nancy Culberson dropped from the Rolls on Oct. 31, 1893, for failure to claim her pension.

I certify, on honor, that Andrew Culberson a Private of Captain A.H. Wilson Company C of
the 3rd Regt. of Tennessee Cav. Volunteers, of the State of Tennessee, born in Cherokee County, State of North Carolina aged 21 years; 5 feet 5 inches high; light complexion, gray eyes, dark hair, and by occupation a Farmer, having joined the company on the original organization at Louisville, Ky, and enrolled in it at the muster into the service of the United States at Boling Green, on the 19th day of December, 1862 to serve in the Regiment for the term of Three years; and having served honestly and faithfully with his company in the Field to the present measles
at Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The said Andrew Culberson has pay due from enlistment ............
Given in duplicate, at Murfreesboro, Tenn, this 28 day of February 1863.
