Perry County, Tennessee

Lower Brush Creek Cemetery analysis

Analysis Contributed by:  Jan Monnin

Photos Contributed by:  Rachel Szuliman

This cemetery is located on Lower Brush Creek.   There may be about 2 dozen each of fieldstone marked graves and unmarked graves.

Note from Rachel:  This cemetery was originally called the Barham Cemetery.  Locally we call it the Church House Hill Cemetery.  It's also known as the Lower Brush Creek Cemetery because of its location.

There are a couple known transcriptions of this cemetery:

  • David Donahue recorded this cemetery on 18 October 2001;

  • David Donahue checked and updated it in 29 August 2004;

  • (both of these transcriptions were recorded on the TnGenWeb site.)

  • Mary (Stewart) Bowen and Melissa (Snyder) Bowen recorded the cemetery in the early 1990s. Their record appears in Mary Bowen's Perry County, Tennessee Cemetery Records (Vol. II). This earlier record is referred to as Bowen in the notes below.

Lower Brush Creek, October 2001

In the list below, I’ve started with what is recorded on the new searchable TnGenWeb site, compared it to the other transcriptions and made a note of any difference.
