Formerly the Oakdale Bank & Trust, then the Post Office and later a small grocery store.

WHO ARE THE MEN IN THIS PHOTO?
The second one from the left is FRED HUSTON GOLDSTON
Fred is my grandfather.
This picture is dated 1901 and was taken in Oakdale, Tn.
I do know one of the other men is a Honeycutt.

Chester Galloway (Pa) and  Stanley McCartt are identified by the red arrows, 
on a railroad crew somwhere near Oakdale. 
Can anyone identify any of the other men in this crew???

Oakdale: The old “City Meat Market” torn down when the new bridge was being built.  According to the book “Oakdale – 1880 to the Present” “built by J. H. & Sam Carr for an office building in 1926. Dr. Carr died in 1972. Beauty shop owners were Bobbie Clinton and later Pam Wright and Cathy Jones. Tom Bingham was owner after 1972.

  1. Hello…Thanks for posting all the Great Pictures of Oakdale.They bring back so many Good memories to me. Many happy years of my life was playing there in Oakdale. I loved watching the trains come in at night. When my Grandmother “Cressie Burris” and Mother “Ruth Salmons” would take us the the YMCA to get ice cream. She was a Good and Loving Grandmother and I was Blessed with the Sweetest Mother on Earth. I think God for her every day. My Grandfather was Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oakdale. “Dr. David Burris” So many good times.

My beautiful,loving Grandmother who just passed and was burried at Camp Austin,was always telling me past stories of my Great Grandparents Ethel Mae Presswood Carr and Hugh Andrew Carr,i sure wished i could of met them,they all lived in Oakdale Mountain,if anyone can tell me anything else about the geneology of my Carr family or Camp Austin,anything please email me,thank you in advance..

  3. Even though there is know mention of any African Americans or colored folks, their was quite a few residing in Oakdale according to my research and my mother who lived and grew up their.
