MARTYR MADISONVILLE,
May 6.-- Edgar Giles is the first soldier from Monroe County, who is known to
have given his life in the world War. He
was one of the martyrs of Mont Kemmel who obeyed
the orders to defend until death from the attacks of the Huns. Private
Edgar Giles was scarcely twenty years of age.
He enlisted in the Marine service over a year ago. Knoxville
