Rowan, Jr.
Mack
and Carrie Harrill Rowan of Route 1, have received
a telegram from the War Department stating that their son, Pvt. Mack R.
Rowan, Jr. was killed in action in Germany on Feb. 1. He had been
overseas only a few days. Besides his parents he is survived by two
sisters, Miss Inez Rowan and Mrs. Merle Watson. Mr.
and Mrs. Mack Rowan, Sr. have been notified that the body of their son is en
route home from overseas. Pvt. Rowan,
19, was killed in action on Feb. 1, 1945, in the Battle of the Bulge in
Germany. He served with the 358th

KILLED IN ACTION MADISONVILLE,
TENN., Feb. 27---Mr. and Mrs. Mack R. Rowan have received a message from the
War Department that their son, Pvt. Mack R. Rowan Jr., was killed in action
in Germany Feb. 1. Pvt.
Rowan, who received his training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., had worked for TVA
before he volunteered for military service in July, 1944, leaving the States
Jan. 1 for overseas duty. He was with
Gen. Patton's Third Army. Besides
his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Merle Watson and Miss Inez
Rowan, Route 2, Madisonville. Chattanooga
