full military service will be held under the auspices of the Greeneville VFW
with the Chaplain, the Rev. Warren C. Mounts officiating. Interment
will be in the adjoining cemetery. Pfc.
Shope entered the service December 19, 1942,
serving with the 94 Division of the 301st Infantry. He was killed in action in France October
2, 1944, after having served three months, overseas. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Cupp Shope, of Mosheim, his mother,
Mrs. J.M. Shope, of Friendsville, Tenn., six
brothers, Fred, Bill, Claude and Floyd of Sweetwater, Paul of Rockford, Ill.,
and Leon of Friendsville, Tenn., also two sisters, Mrs. C.F. DeButy, of Sweetwater and Mrs. Luke Presley, of
Friendsville. The
body arrived Wednesday afternoon on Train 42 and was removed from the depot
at Mosheim to Bible and Gray Funeral Home.
The body was escorted ty a Color Guard
arranged by Commander Hervie F. Hartman of the
local VFW post. The
body will be removed this afternoon to the late home near Mosheim. The
