Pvt. Guilford Carson, was fired on from ambush and killed in the Philippines on May 8, according to word received by his father, Ben Carson.  Capt. John M. Ryan, commanding officer, wrote of the military funeral held at his grave and added: “He had many friends not only in his company, but in other units.  He was a good soldier and did a fine job.”  A brother, Stickley Carson has been discharged; another brother, Clarence is still in service.
