Earnest Milsaps, of Greenback, died Oct. 29, in a naval hospital at Charleston, SC.  His death followed a short illness of Pneumonia.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. H.M. Milsaps; three sisters, Mrs. J.B. Peterson and Miss Leon Milsaps, of Greenback, and Miss Inez Milsaps, of Knoxville; and two brothers, Will Milsaps of Vonore, and Joe Milsaps, of Richmond, Va.

Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church at Morganton, Sunday morning at 11 o'clock.  Rev. David M. Kerr, officiated, and interment was in Morganton Cemetery.

The deceased was a consistent Christian young man.  He was only 18 years of age.

Ernest Milsaps is the first among the fifty young men who are enlisted in the service of the United States from this section, who has died.
