For several years, Dede Harrill has been collecting obituaries for Monroe Co., Tn related people. These obits have been alphabetically indexed and compiled into books. Some obits have been omitted from this collection because they were not available and/or some families did not always submit obits for publication. As this is an on-going project, she will be happy to accept any additional obits to be included in future volumes.

These collections have also been donated to the Monroe County, Tn Archives located in the basement of the Monroe County Court House

Please request one obit at a time. Do not ask for "all Jones or Smiths". Since time and effort will be spent in scanning and sending requested obits, we want to insure that the obit is relevant to your research. It will help if you will give additional information with your request (i.e. age of deceased, names of spouse, parents, children, etc.).

These obits will be sent as "jpeg" files. If you are not able to open these, please click your right mouse button on the file attachment and save to disk, and then ask a friend for assistance in printing out the obit. Since there are many Windows versions and viewers, Dede will not be able to assist you in opening the requested file.

This is an index only and names have been broken into 10 text files. If you see a Roman numeral (i.e. I, II), that's the book it's in followed by the page number. If you see 93 through 02 followed by a number, that's the year of death followed by the page number.Click on the name you are interested in.
