ANDREW JACKSON KILBY FAMILY

The Kilby line started in Culpepper, Va . and moved to Wilkes Co, NC, then to Cherokee Co, NC and around 1905 to Monroe County, TN.

The son of Adam Kilby and Malinda Wilson, Robert P. Kilby born 1850 married Martha Ann Bryson Sept. 18,1879. They bought many acres of land and built a large farm house for the family of 10 children.

The children of Robert P and Martha Bryson Kilby are:

who was from Rural Vale.
They had Mamie Sue , Dolly Mae, Jefferson Knoxford,
Wilburn Billy Gene.

flower Texie Anner Kilby b 03/18/1905 married Hoyt Hamby of Monroe Co.

All but the youngest child were born in NC. Texie was born in Monroe County. Robert died in 1932. He is buried along side his wife who died in 1949 in Rural Vale Baptist Church Cemetery. They are near Adam who died in 1916 and many other Kilbys.

flower Andrew Jackson (Jack) Kilby was born in 1885 in NC. He married Grace Evans in 1908 after moving to TN.
They had one child, Jewel who was born in 1910. Grace died of TB in 1916 and is buried in Rural Vale Cemetery.

Jack married Leonard Lennie Mae Seagle in 1919. He farmed his beautiful farm for over 50 years. He was very interested in local politics always encouraging his friends and neighbors to exercise their voting privilege. He believed in God and Country.

Lennie was a fine example of the farm wife. She learned skills to make her family and home comfortable. She quilted, sewed clothes and other necessary items. She could even make tatted lace. She kept the house garden and put all the food by for winter use. She was happy with all modern inventions, but praised the electric company when Rural Vale in 1947 finally got electricity.

Jack and Lennie were active in the Rural Vale Baptist Church contributing their time and money generously. They supported the Rural Vale School in any way they could. Jack particularly loved the Pie Suppers fund raisers. Lennie loved the Ice Cream Socials . They were much loved and are greatly missed still.

Jack died in 1972, Lennie in 1988. They had one daughter, Aleen J. born 1920 and is proud she got to live in that community and go to school in Rural Vale with her friends and cousins.
