Angeline Carroll Sepember 8, 1874 - n/d. Kyker's Funeral Home has these dates: 9/8/1868-11/28/1954 with parents John Carroll and Elizabeth Land buried Forkner's Chapel?
Samantha Carroll August 27, 1878 - April 27, 1947. Kyker Funeral Home has her name as Alpha Louisa Samantha Carroll with these dates: 8/27/1871-4/27/1947 with parents John Carroll and Elizabeth Land buried Old Forkner.
Elizabeth Carroll ca 1815 - June 17, 1908. W/o John Carroll. She was buried here.
The Forkners employed widows and orphans after the Civil War. Several Carroll family members worked for the Forkners.
There is some confusion on ages of John and Elizabeth Carroll and family:
1880 Monroe Co., Tn census: Dist. 2 #123 Carrell, John 64 TTT, Has eye cancer; Elizabeth 53 TTT; Jefferson 20 Tn; Thomas L. 18 Tn; Nancy J. 16 Tn; Marthy 14 Tn; Ester 12 Tn; Julia A. 10 Tn; Angeline 8 Tn; Samantha 6 Tn
1900 Monroe Co., Tn census: Dist.2 #96 Carroll, Elizabeth Aug. 1816-83, 10 children-6 living Tn Tn NC; George J. Mar 1836-64, son, single, Tn Tn NC; Thomas L, May 1839-61, son, single, Tn; Nancy J., Mar 1845-55, dau, single Tn; Alpha S.(Samantha?) Aug 1852--47, single, Tn
This would make Samantha b. ca 1852 not 1878, Angeline isn't in the 1900. The Monroe Co. 1919 death cert. for Thomas L. Carroll shows him born May 24, 1849, 10 years off from the 1900 and not close at all to the 1880. Parents shown as John Carroll b. Haywood Co., NC and Elizabeth Land b. Cocke Co., Tn. Samantha Carroll was informant.
Elizabeth Carroll's death cert. of June 17, 1908 and an obit states she was 93 which agrees more with the 1900 census than the 1880 which is 10 years off.
I can't locate this family before 1880 census.
