W. L. Endsley was Walton L. Endsley (1877-1960), son of John F. Endsley & wife, Sallie Adney Coffey. Ethel Chapman was the daughter of James William Chapman & wife, Martha Emmaline Pylant.
The license and the section where the minister or justice of the peace certifies that he has solemnized the rite of matrimony is blank. Usually, if the marriage did not take place, the court clerks would eventually write some type of notation in this block such as "no return" or "not returned." In this instance other evidence indicates that the marriage did take place: Ethel's tombstone at Round Hill Cemetery is reported to read: "Ethel
