Transferred to the Invalid Corps June 1863 and was mustered out of active duty on May 14, 1864. Company A was formed in the area of Kingston, Tennessee. There was a John L. Lewis also in Company A, who was 30 years old at that time. I am not able to trace this person directly to Thomas as a relative but believe he was a relative.

Captured at the Battle of Rogersville, Tenn. 6 Nov 1863 (http://home.fuse.net/damathew/rogtitle.html) Confined as prisoner-of-war at Belle Isle and Andersonville prisons from Nov 1863 - Dec 1864. Paroled at Charleston, SC 6 Dec 1864. At Camp Parole, MD 15 Dec 1864. Furlough for 30 days, 25 Dec 1864 and then sent to Columbus, Ohio. If anyone has additional information on Newton Lynn I would certainly appreciate it. His name at birth was Absalem Newton LYNN, b. 11/11/1840, d. ??, married Mary Ann HICKS, b. 7/29/1837. They had a son, William S. LYNN, b. 5/28/1866, d. 4/18/1955, married Emma E. HUMPHREYS, b. 12/26/1875, d. 1/14/1960. Both buried in Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, Loudon Co., Tenn. I have family info from this point on but need any info on Newton Lynn's ancestors.
