Clayton Edwards Family

Submitted by Jere Brinkley, Grandson of David Walker Edwards and Verlie Bunah Murphy Edwards.

In the Burrus Chapel cemetery listing a gravestone mention is missing for Mrs. Wesley C. Clayton (WC) who’s full particulars are Nancy A. Sharpe Edwards Clayton. Born 5 Jan 1849, Died 16 Aug. 1908. You may also find her in the TN death index record 51 as Nancy Clayton. Her first husband Thomas Jefferson Edwards died 7 April 1890 in Lewis County TN and is buried in the Edwards Cemetery in Hickman County TN. Nancy remarried to WC Clayton 22 Jan 1893 by a M. Schubert in Lewis County, page 35 in the Marriages record book and they then moved to Lake County TN at some unknown date. They are listed in the 1900 census for district 4 of Lake County item 89 with two stepsons Walker (David Walker) and Austin L (Levi) Edwards.

Finally two male Children of David and Verlie Edwards are listed as no last name in the cemetery listing. They should be listed as Walker M (Murphy) Edwards and Vernon B. (Bradford) Edwards Two other Edwards children 1 male and 1 female that are missing and should be in the same general area are:

Willie Dave Edwards—————Born 4/12/1907 died——–11/19/??
