  2. Teresa West says:

I am the granddaughter of Grant Birchfield. He was married to Bertha Irick, daughter of George W. and Martha Stout Irick, and raised Irick I., Allen Stacy, Worley, Lorna Jane, Christine Mary, Casie Ann, Dudley Dewey and Arney Angel. After Bertha’s death, Grant married Wilma Goode and they had one son, Roy. Irick married and remained in the family home on Walnut Mountain until his death. Allen, his wife, Della, and their son, Raymond, lived in the Sinks area. All others, their spouses and their children moved to the Elizabethton area.

I am also the granddaughter of Wiley Church. He was married to Ellen C. Bunton, daughter of Doll and Martha Hatley Bunton, and their home straddled the NC and TN state line where they raised Luther, Howard, LuDella, Nell, Doris, Ray and Allen. Allen remained in the family home. Most of the children lived in the Elizabethon area.
