Tennessee Ridge

From Ira Bell, Let me assure you there is a place called “Tennessee Ridge,” it is in Houston County, 4 miles from “Stewart” 2 miles from Hurricane Creek in Stewart County, and has back to back City Limits with Erin, 25 years ago it had about 300 people in it but today I would imagine it is between 2 and 3 thousand. It is a large Sawmill area still, Largeness are the biggest owner now, but Sykes and Beasley was the big owners for many years from back in the 30’s. It has a number of churches, Methodist, Baptist, Church of Christ and Catholic 32 Grocery Stores, 2 restaurants, 2 service Stations, a wash and dry for clothing, 1 garage, 1 electronics repair place, 1 antique store, and the Tennessee National Guard has an Engineering Battalion and service facility there. I may have overlooked something but as The young girl was told, “Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus” I tell you “Yes Pat there is a Tennessee Ridge. The dividing ridge between the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers, water from the East end of town goes into the Cumberland River and that that falls in the West end of town runs into the Tennessee River. Smack-dab in the middle of the RIDGE. By The way there, it is referred to as the Ridge. I don’t live in that area now but was raised near there, until I was 16 years old. Still go back 6 to 8 times per year.
