GREGORY, (child) – (d. 1882)

Obituary – Once more the grim monster, death, has entered our neighborhood and laid his hand on one of our neighbor’s children, a little boy seven years of age, the youngest child of Mr. Chas. GREGORY, who has been living here but a short time.  How sad it is to see our friends and neighbors snatched from our midst.  O! the solemnity of the grave! We all, sooner or later, have to face that same monster that now holds the sickle of fate and has slain millions of our fellow beings.  Could we all be as innocent as little Jimmy, and pass from the tenement of clay to realms of endless bliss when this fleeting life is ended, we would not shudder to think of death.  He is reaping his reward and is done with the trials of life an the pangs of death.  And now he is numbered with the saints in heaven, where God’s children dwell in love and peace.
     For little Jimmy,
     Now dwelling in love,
     Bids his friends,
     Meet him in realms above

     He can’t come to them,
     To him they must go
     And cross the cold Jordan.
     The much dreaded foe

The bereaved parents have the heartfelt sympathy of their friends. — J.H.B.
