MUSTER-IN ROLL of Captain A. N. Hays, Company C, 7th Union Tennessee Cavalry Volunteers commanded by Colonel Isaac Hawkins called into the service of the United States by The President from the Fifth day of September 1862 for the term of Three Years unless sooner discharged. All the below listed persons joined for duty Sep 5, 1862 at Jackson, TN with the exception of 1st Lt Will F. Allender who joined for duty Aug 1861 at Cairo, Illinois. List does not contain names of individuals who joined Company C at a later date.

  1. Thank you so very much for this post to my email. I appreciate others who help with family researchers. I see the name of my great grand Uncle, Britton Smith. The name on the list is spelled Briteon Smith but I think this is just a misspelling since I already know that he was a Union soldier with the USA Co C, 7th Calvary. He escaped capture by Gen. Forrest possibly because he was with a detachment sent to southern Illinois. However he contracted and died of pneumonia on 16 Oct 1863.
