I am looking for information on Lou LINCUS born abt 1852 in Hickory Cove, TN (Hawkins Co). Her father was David LINCUS. She was married to a Luther or Lucian MARCUM and was the mother of 7 children, Charles, Wiley, Porter, William, Mollie, Mack and Hessie. She died a widow 6 APR 1916. I know she was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Beech Grove, TN (Hawkins Co.). I found a reference in the LDS IGI to a Louisa LINKOUS marrying a Luther MARCUM on 17 Jan 1882 in Hawkins County, not sure if this is the Lou I am looking for or not.

I am looking for info on my grandfather (James W Laster) who married (kate Fawbush). We lived in Surgoinsville from about 1945 to 1953 when his son (J.W.Laster) my father came to Calif. My grandfather use to pull the ferry across the river at Surgoinsville I have pictures of this. I also  remember a wonderful lady, Crattie Riemer who had the store over the hill from where we lived. I am looking for information on the ancesters of Lular R. Barker. I know he was buried in the family cemetery in Rogersville, TN after his body was transported from Lordsburg, NM where he died in November1969.  My father, Charles P. Barker, was his only son (as far as we know) and he lives in SC.  Lular Barker had a brother, John, who lived in Kingsport, TN and ran a gift shop with a big indian out front.  Other siblings were Lloyd, Bill, Jack and Georgia.

Gordon/Johnson-Looking for information on William Gordon and wife Mahaley Johnson. They had a daughter Ailsey Gordon and she married Woodson Seal. Was these following children also the children of William and Mahaley Gordon? Lucinda, Henry, and Mary E. Gordon. I found a William Gordon and wife Mahaley and their 4 children, Lucinda, Henry, Mary E., and Ailsey Gordon listed in the 1860 Census of Hancock  County,Tennessee. I found Aaron Johnson and wife,Phoebe and a daughter, Mahaley listed in the 1850 Census Hawkins County,Tennessee. Is this the same Mahaley? In 1850 Mahaley was listed 19 years old and in 1860, Mahaley was listed 29 years old. Would love to hear from some one about this family.

JONATHAN WHITE, founder of the town of Mount Sterling,in Hawkins County,11/22/1817. Seeking evidence to support or refute that Jonathan was the father of Frederick White b3/14/1789 in,most likely,Granville County,NC. Jonathan was listed in the 1800 Census in Rowan County,NC. Frederick was listed as head of household in the 1810 Census of Rowan County,NC. A male the  right age to be Jonathan was living w/ him. Info. from TN Legislative Acts ref Jonathan: “Be it enacted, That Jonathan White is hereby authorized to lay off a town on his own land in the county of Hawkins,on the main road leading from Dotsons ford,on Holston river,to Checks Cross Roads, which said town shall contain a proper number of streets and alleys,and be known by the name of Mount Sterling.” Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for information on Elijah EDENS, md. to Nancy Fields. They moved from Lee Co., VA, to Hancock sometime before 1860. They do not show up under either county in 1870, but reappeared in 1880. Know where they were in 1860 and 1880 of course, just looking for any additional info about them, especially ancestors. Elijah b. abt 1810 in VA. Nancy b. abt 1810 in VA. My great-grandfather, Henderson Cox, is buried in the cemetery of the First Methodist Church in Rogersville.  He was born in 1822 at Eaton’s Ridge in Kingsport and died in 1888 in Rogersville.  He was supposedly living with children Anne and Corny (short for Cornelia?) who were somehow attached to a private girl’s school or academy located in Rogersville until after the beginning of the 20th century.  Does anyone know of a private girl’s school that was located in Rogersville?  Where can I find out more about it?

John Cox, Sr. brought his family to Sullivan Co. Tn. abt 1774 from Baltimore Co. Md. He brought sons: Edward Cox of Sullivan Co., John Cox, Jr. of Hawkins Co. and Thomas Cox of Davidson Co. Family helped to build Fort Watauga. I would like any info pertaining to my family and their connection to the Watauga settlement. Also interested in how William and Greenberry Cox are related to the John Cox, Sr. family. Thanks EDWARD COX, b. 1750-1759 married SARAH MEREDITH and he lived his life in Sullivan County, TN. He died in 1850. JOHN COX, JR., b. 1758 married TABITHA AMIS and he lived in Hawkins County, TN. he died in 1798. THOMAS COX, my g-g-g-grandfather, b. June 1761 in Baltimore Co. MD., married REBECCA WEBB , b. Aug. 1770 in Berks County, PA. Thomas went on the Col Roberson expedition up the Cumberland River in 1779 and built Fort Nashborough, later renamed Nashville and he was one of the signers of the Cumberland Compact in 1780. Thomas lived his life in Davidson County, Tn. and died in 1830. Also looking for information on the following names: WILLIAM COX GREENBERRY COX , died abt 1807, left children with THOMAS COX as guardian with children mentioned as Dr. Thomas Cox and Lidia Cox as being minor children. Believed married to RUTH BOSLEY COX . Ruth was previously married to a WILLIAM COX in Baltimore Co. MD. and he died in 1766, and Ruth married his brother GREENBERRY COX. believe they migrated to Tennessee in 1767. I would like to know if and how GREENBERRY was related to my Cox family. RuthAEs son, Jesse, married Susan. Only child mentioned. Jesse died and Ruth everything to Jesse’s children; James, Susanna, Sophia, Abraham, Thomas, Isaac, William and Jacob. Looking for ancestors of Hiram Manis who married Ledthea Bledsoe and had at least one son Shelby or Noah or possible Noah Shelby or Shelby Noah Manis. The Manis family I decended from are from Elliot and Carter Counties in Kentucky. However I was informed they migrated from Hawkins County Tennessee.
