Hamblen County was established in 1870 and named after Hezekiah Hamblen. The county was formed from parts of Jefferson and Grainger counties in 1870 and by a small portion of Hawkins County in 1871.
Hamblen County is located in East Tennessee, one of the state's three Grand Divisions. In area, Hamblen is the third smallest county in the state and is bordered by Grainger, Hawkins, Greene, Cocke and Jefferson counties. According to the Census Bureau, Hamblen County's population in 2022 was 65,168.
The county seat is Morristown. And, within its' borders are the towns and communities of Alpha, Lowland, Roe Junction, Russellville, Talbott, Whitesburg and Witt.
