  1. I’m just getting into the Dodson/Dotson geneaology; don’t know why
I’ve waited so long and a good amount of knowledge has passed
away due to lack of communications for one reason or another. I’m
just as guilty by not asking older family members about their
    heritage, etc.

    • Has there been any new data found for the liniage of Elishia J Dodson(1780-1850) Willis Goodwin Dodson (1820-1898) Irvin Taylor Dodson(1847-1913)?
Irvin is my 2nd great grandfather and I am seeking to learn more about my liniage .

      • There may be new data in the Dodson Family Vertical File at the Giles County Historical Society’s Research Room in the Giles County Public Library. Will need to check it to see.

  3. I am searching for a book. I have not had an answer from the person that posted this, so I am asking for help to locate the book to see the information on the Nipper family. This was found in Ancestry message section: Taken from Dodson family history: 290 Samuel 9 Nipper (John Platt 10, John 11, James 12, James 13)#749 was born in Brunswick Co. VA – 1748. Samuel died -1787. He married Mary Sybil Turkett, (Mary Sybil Turkett #750.) In 1767, Samuel, alone with his brothers, John and James, and their aunt and uncle Richard and Martha Rottenberry, moved to South Carolina. On 4 Sep 1770 , Samuel appeared in the Council Chambers of the Governor of South Carolina, at Charleston, petitioning for a Royal Land Grant. He was granted a Warrant of Survey for 200 acres in the Richmond District, on the savannahs of the Watertree River. During the Revolutionary War, Samuel joined the Revolutionary Forces, deserted and joined the British, serving in Colonel Thomas Taylor’s Regiment. He was killed in action. His land was confiscated by the state after the war.
