Maggie Daisy (Barry) Vanatta was the daughter of Charlie Barry and
Reppy McDonald Barry. She died in Lebanon, Wilson, TN. She was buried
on April 17, 1941. In the 1920 census of DeKalb Co., TN, Maggie lived with her parents next to Andrew.
Andrew Willie Vanatta was the son of John and Katharine Measles
Vanatta. He died in Brush Creek, Smith, TN and was buried on
March 11, 1953. Andrew's WWI draft registration gives his birth as
January 16, 1874, and he is listed as 8 years old in the 1880 census,
meaning born in 1871/1872. His death certificate says born in 1878. As
with all of John and Katherine Vanatta's children, the birth dates for
a child vary wildly among all the records, making it almost impossible
to be certain about any birth dates. All that can be reliably said is
that Andrew Vanatta was born in the 1870's. The month varies between
June and January, depending on the record.
No
county marriage record has been found, but Andrew and Maggie are
together in the 1930 census with a 5-year-old daughter, Geneva. The
informant for Andrew's death certificate was his daughter, "Mrs. Geneva
Poston", New Middleton, TN.
