Katherine (Measles) Vanatta  May 20, 1840- [death date not inscribed]
Death certificate gives death May 3, 1920

John Vanatta June 18, 1837-August 21, 1900

John Vanatta married Katharine Measles on July 30, 1857 in DeKalb Co, TN. John Vanatta was the son of Samuel Vanatta and Hannah Glover Vanatta. Inscription: “Weep not, he is at rest.”

Katharine Measles was the daughter of William and Nancy Barger Measle/Measles. She died May 3, 1920 according to her death certificate, and the death certificate states she was born in 1839, instead of 1840.  Inscription is very hard to read.

Children: Nancy Josephine (1858-1927, md. George Hildreth) buried here also, Jordan (1861-1938) buried here also, Julia (1863/7-1948) buried here, William Chigel (1865-1945) buried here, Effie (1867-?), John Shelly (Sept. 1869-1945) buried here- no stone, Fantley (1871-1910) buried here also, Callie (May 1876-1901 md. Franklin Griffith) buried here also, Andrew Willie (1871/6-1953) buried here also, Clio (abt 1879-?), Fred (1883-1955) buried here also, "Lizzie Hale" is mentioned as sister of Fantley in his obituary- no way to verify her.

In the 1900 census, the whole family seems to have forgotten their ages and births, for example:

Andrew 1900 census: June 1877/8 age 22
Julia 1900 census: May 1874 age 26
Fred 1900 census: April, 1881 age 19
