W W ROBERTS
No dates on stone, hand carved name
William (Walter?) Roberts was born about 1810 in the Culpeper and
Orange Co, VA area. He died before 1880. He married September
10, 1834 in Orange Co, VA to Martha P Robinson. Martha was
also born in this area of Virginia. They came to Tennessee about 1850,
having at least 6 children, James, Oliver, John, David, Thomas and
Eliza, and possibly some who had already married. After they arrived in
Tennessee they had about 6 more children: Joseph, Amanda, Allen, Maria,
Lucy and Mary. When I did the first survey of Talley
cemetery, there were 2 markers for W W Roberts. and none for
Martha, perhaps hers is one of the unmarked graves or the stone has
disappeared. She was born about 1815 in Virginia and died
before 1880 in Wilson Co, TN. I base the name Walter on the
fact that one of his great grandsons was also named Walter.
