  1. Seeking information on George Henry Floyd, born about 1879 to George and unknown mother Floyd. He married Minnie Buckingham daughter of William & Mary Buckingham in 1903. Henry and Minie Floyd are the parents of my grandfather, James Leslie Floyd born 1908 approximately in Decatur County. Any information regarding any of the above named Floyds is appreciated.

    1. I am searching for FLOYD family, also. My husband’s second great grandmother is Martha J. FLOYD (abt 1842, TN — bet 1891 & 1890,?) d/o Petiller T. (PT) FLOYD/FLOID and Delphia.

Martha J. FLOYD lived in Decatur Co., TN until after the 1870 Census, moving to Mississippi Co., MO. She married Henry L. Mark MILLINDER/MILLINER.

      Petiller T. FLOYD (b 1802, GA or SC — ?)
      Delphia ? (b 1811, TN — bef the 1860 census)

      Martha’s siblings:

      1. Delphia Ann (1849, TN — 1912, Charleston, MO) m #1 Augustus Cornelius MILLINDER/MILLINER (brother of Henry L. Mark MILLINDER)
      m #2 William W. HORN
      m #3 Zachariah T. ASHCRAFT

      2. Elizabeth (5/1834, TN — 1914, Clay Co., AR) m David FLOYD (not related?)poss married twice unk name of husband

      3. Enoch b 1836 TN
      4. Alfred M. b 1838 TN
      5. Starlin/Sterling b 1840 TN

I would love to locate the parents of Petiller T. FLOYD and the surname of his wife Delilah.

      Any information would be appreciated,
      Linda Cashen Gaunt

        1. Thanks for asking. I haven’t found any more information than previously posted, sorry to say. Do you have a connection to this FLOYD line?

          Linda Cashen Gatun

      1. This is to Linda Cashen Gaunt:

I don’t have my password yet to the Gen Forum place, but I noticed that you were looking earlier for Samuel S. Locker, right? Well, my great-grandmother was Julinia “Julie” Chester Locker, who was married to Samuel Richard Locker on March 5, 1882 in Bosque Co., TX. He was born in Clifton, TX in 1856. His grandfathers were Samuel S. Locker and Richard Phillips.

Julie Chester Locker is buried in White Church Cemetery right out of Glen Rose, TX. My mom and dad, grandmother and grandfather are buried there as well.

Well, I hope that you get this. I have a little booklet that some relatives gave to me several years ago. I didn’t know much about the Chesters or the Lockers.

        1. Hello,

Thanks for the contact. This is part of my LOCKER line. Please contact me @ (RRG410@aol.com)

          Thanks again,

          1. I may have found a clue to Petiller/Patillo FLOYD’s family. Here’s what I have:

Josias or Josiah FLOYD m Nancy JORDAN. In his will dated 12/21/1790 Meherin Parish, Brunswick Co., VA, he names his daughter, Elizabeth PATILLO.

            Further research find a Jamdes PATILLO/PETELLO (1750, VA — 1819 Brunswick Co., VA) m Elizabeth FLOYD (1763, VA — 1823 ?) they had a daughter, Rebecca b 1774 VA – d 1834 Putnam Co., GA.

Could this be part of Petiller/Patillo FLOYD’S family?

  5. I am helping a lady in Belgium who has adopted the grave of Sgt. Coy McCorkle from Decatur County who was KIA on Feb. 1 1945 in Germany and was buried at Henri-Chapelle Military Cemetery. Folks in Belgiun, Hollan and France care for the graves of these heros and place flowers on Memorial day in appreciation for what they have sacrificed. She would like to know more about Sgt. Any information would be appreciated. My email is buten42@comcast.net. Thanks for any help.

    1. My grandfather Coy A. McCorkle had a son, the eldest, whose name was Coy Monroe McCorkle. I know he was in WWII and that is all I know. I have been searching cemeteries and could not find a grave for my uncle whom I never met. They were originally from Decatur County, TN and moved to Dyer County, TN. All of my aunts and uncles who could shed light on where he is buried are all dead. The only living uncle left does not know. I know that my uncle Monroe was killed in the war. My email address is banditjr@att.net if you want to contact me.

      Hope this helps.

  6. Looking for any information on Alexander Autery who was possibly a protestant minister in Vanderburgh, Indiana also bought property from the land office in Vincennes in 1838. Need to know if he was an ordained minister and to what religion he practiced. Any help would be appreciated.

  7. My name is Leachea Johnson (maiden name) and my father was Floyd Elmore Johnson.
My grands were gf: William David Johnson (1880-1926) and gm Minnie Etta Gilbert (1894-?), g/gf: John Lee Johnson (1854-1930) and g/gm Mary E. Johnson (1857-1922)(her father and mother (my gg/gf and gg/gm on her side were William Johnson (1818-?)and Phebia C Jackson (1830-?)), gg/gf: Andrew Johnson (1820-?) and gg/gm Mary Ann Sanders (1830-?). On my grandmother’s Minnie Etta Gilbert side, my g/gf and g/gm were William A. Gilbert (1856-1926) and Sarah Elizabeth Hays (1857-1930). My gg/gf was William “B” Gilbert (1810-1900) and gg/gf
Elizabeth Hurt (1815-1870) and gg/gf Captain Asa Nelson (Black Hawk)Hays (1819-1887) and gg/gm Abigail Shipman (1816-1876). I’m trying to find out info on my gg/gf Andrew Johnson and gg/gm Mary Ann Sanders mentioned in the beginning of this email. I don’t have any info beyond their existence. I would like to find out who their parents were (my ggg/gf and ggg/gm) but I haven’t been able to find out anything further.

      1. Sorry, I just found your email. My father, Floyd Elmore Johnson, had two sisters, Clara Johnson-Shaneyfelt and Virginia Johnson-Bafford, two brothers (Cleo and Tom) and a half sister, Reba Foust (not sure yet how she came to be). My paternal grandmother was Minnie Etta Gilbert-Johnson and (her mother) my paternal great grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Hays. Sarah Elizabeth’s father (my paternal great great grandfather was Captain Asa Nelson (Black Hawk) Hays who was rumored as having been raised from a teen in a Cherokee Indian Tribe and his mother Martha was said to have been a member of the same Cherokee tribe (the Powhattans) that Pocahontas was also from. Rumors state that this is where Black Hawk got his dark complexion. Growing up I had always heard that there was 3/4 Cherokee on my father’s mother’s side of the family. Everything I’ve found indicates that there was some Cherokee Indian in our bloodline, but I’m not sure of just how much yet. When time allows, I’m still researching my tree and I still have a bunch of questions. I would love to compare notes.

        1. rsponding to let you know i received your email and sounds like this is my grandmothers brother. thi is great ! please keep in contact kathylegare

          1. Kathy, I strongly believe we are related. I did the DNA test for ancestry as well as 23 and me. Your name popped up as a DNA match. I would like to learn more about my daddy’s side of the family and Aunt Clara was his sister. Let me know if we can communicate. My email is lrjwood@gmail.com.

          2. Kathy.. I just found this from you and Leachea. Cleo Johnson is my Grandfather! I have been searching high and low to find out more info about his Mom and Dad and I saw your post. I knew his Dad’s name was William and his Mom was Minnie…I actually found the Birth Certificate of my Gfather (Cleo) and it shows her name as “Mineratta.” We were told that Willam is buried in the Powell Cemetery in Giles County and Mom and I made that trip last Sat. We looked all over, but did not find any tombstone and I have not been able to find anything to state where either William or Minnie may be buried. I know that my Gfather (Cleo) always told us that his family was from Giles Co., but on his B. Cert it shows that he was born in Lawrence Co/Appleton, TN. This is so exciting to find!! Please let me know of any further info you may have. I do have a pic of William Johnson…Cleo, Clara, Reba…etc…Father. It has the look of an old tin type/paint touch up, but I was told by Cleo that was the only pic that anyone ever had of him. I plan on trying to get the DNA test done, but I wanted to make sure of which would be the best one to have performed so that it could tell more about the Native American blood…I have been told our entire life that we are all Cherokee and I would love to satisfy that question! Please..if you have any further information share it, and so will I!

  12. Can someone please give the names of the class of 2014 graduating class? I went to Pin Oak in the 5 grade and left and went back home to Missouri. I met some wonderful friends there and still remember them to this day, I’d like to reconnect with some of them. I don’t know what school they went too after Pin Oak so I’m trying all the surrounding schools. If this would be possible, I would be eternally grateful, thanks.

  15. Searching for my paternal great-grandparents. Grandmother – Minnie Bell Perkins, born in 1885 or 86, married John Riley Patterson in 1899, she died in 1924 – all events were in Decatur County as far as I know. They did live in Florence, Alabama from around 1900 to 1911. Haven’t been able to find a birth or death certificate on Minnie – which would have maybe shown her parent’s names
