      7. I have been informed this last week that there are court and insolvent estate records prior to 1869 that were not destroyed in the 1869 fire. Is this true?

        1. The 1869 fire is supposed to have destroyed all records except those in the Register’s office and the Clerk and Master’s office. Property deeds were not destroyed. FamilySearch.org shows that deed and land records go back to 1846. The only other early records shown at FamilySearch.org are Court Enrolling dockets, v. 1-2 1860-1880, Family History Library Film 979641. You can check the History Room at the library in Decaturville for other records that may have survived the fire.
