1st. Called on sister Mary H. Dawson, to give her reasons for not attending her church meeting. She being present states to the church that the conduct of Cornelious Livingston our pastor is such that she didn’t want to hear him preach. And the reason I didn’t was because he tried to get me to commit adultry with him and referred to the scriptures to prove that it was right and he tried to persuade me to leave my husband and run away with him. After hearing her defence, we as a church agree to releave the sister of the charge of failing to attend her regular church meetinsg.

1st. Took up the case of the ordination of brother Elija Phillips. Elders Humphry Mount and Joel W. Hiks being present was called as presbytery, to the ordaining of brother Phillips. Brother Hugh R. Long, a deacon of Hopewell Church and Moses Driskell, a deacon of Slate Creek Church was chosen to assist. Then proceeded to the examination of the brother and finding him in our judgement qualified for the office of a bishop.

We, the Primitive Baptist church of Christ at Slate Creek convened to gather to do the things wanting to be done in God’s house. After singing, prayer, and preaching, continued the busienss of the day.
1st. The church appointed brother Elija Phillips to cite Cornelious Livingston and wife and Caroline Gibson to attend their next church meeting and give their reason for not attending the same. Also Moses Driskell to cite Jessey Crumley and wife, and David Livingston and wife to attend their next meeting and give their reason for not attending the same.
