Updated information from McClung Library, Knoxville:
An anecdote shared by John H Stokely in Edward Walker's Tales of the Civil War, page 26:  "...Was injured at Vicksburg.  It seems the Confederate troops were being transported by train on flatcars.  The Yankees attacked the train, and in jumping off, Justus landed on his stomach and a stab penetrated his right side.  Because of the injury, he was soon discharged from service."
