We, HENRY CLICK and HEPSABAUGH CLICK (daughter and heir of the said Henry Click) have this day bargained and sold, and do hereby transfer and convey to JACOB TEMPLIN and his heirs forever for the consideration of the sum of One Hundred and Eight One dollars and fifty cents to us paid, a certain piece, parcel or tract of land , in the State of Tennessee, COCKE CO. , District No. 1 (?), containing by estimation Twenty-five acres, be the same more or less, and bounded as follows...ss

Beginning on a Post Oak corner to JACOB TEMPLIN'S thence South 82 East Sixteen poles Post Oak and Red Oak thence South 12 1/2 East Eleven 1/2 poles to a stake, thence South 84 East Fifty seven 1/2 poles to a Black Oak thence North forty eight poles, to a Pine, thence North West Fifty three poles to a small Black Oak at point of a Ridge, thence - - (?) the point of a Ridge South 39 West Fifty two 1/4 poles to a Hickory, thence South 25 West Twelve /10 to the Beginning. To have and to hold the same to the said JACOB TEMPLIN, his heirs and forever.

Said land is one eighth part of landed estate, which the said HENRY CLICK is now seized and possessed of the same being bequeathed to the said HEPSABAUGH CLICK, his daughter and lawful heir at the death of the said H. CLICK etc. And sold and transferred by consent of all parties to the said JACOB TEMPLIN. We do covenant with the said JACOB TEMPLIN that we are lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and the same is encumbered. We do further covenant and bind, ourselves, our heirs and representatives, to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land, and every part thereof, to the said JACOB TEMPLIN, his heirs and assigns, against the lawful claim of all persons whatever.

WE, DAVID T. TEMPLIN, JOHN HICKS, ABRAHAM DENTON, are held and firmly bound to the STATE OF TENNESSEE, in the penal sum of TWENTY FIVE HUNDRED Dollars.

Witness our hands and seals this, 2nd day of APRIL, 1877

The condition of the above Obligation is such, that, whereas, the above bound DAVID T. TEMPLIN has been appointed Guardian of A. J. BIRD and NANCY A. BIRD, minor heirs of JOHN BIRD

Now, if the said D. T. TEMPLIN shall well and truly perform the duties which are, or may be, required in full force and virtue.

This indenture made the 4th day of March 1881 between D. T. TEMPLIN and wife, MARTHA M. TEMPLIN of the COUNTY OF COCKE and STATE OF TENNESSEE of the first part and FELIX SHULTS of the same county and state of the second part, witnesseth, that the party of the first, for and in consideration of the sum of ONE THOUSAND AND FIFTY DOLLARS $1050.00 . Notes, EXECUTED BY WILLIAM DENTON TO R. A. MC NABB and by R. A. MC NABB transferred to FELIX SHULTS and by FELIX transferred with this endorsement on each note, both by R A. MC NABB AND FELIX SHULTS. (For value received I assign the within notes to DAVID T. TEMPLIN without law, recourse or equity to them duly paid before the delivery hereof, both bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain sell and convey to the part of the second part his heirs and assigns forever all that certain ??? or parcel of lands lying and being in the county aforesaid and state - and which is known and described as follows:

S 70 E 41-1/2 P to a Jilanted rock (?) near a Peach tree N 10-1/2 E 54 poles to a stake N 84 W 6-1/2 poles to a stake. N 2-1/2 W 11-1/2 poles to a stake, N 79 W 16 poles to a frost oak, N 15 W 12-1/2 poles to a stake N 59 E 53-1/2 poles to a large ??- then S 46-3/4 poles to a large Black Oak S 17 W 47 degrees to a rock S 10-1/2 W 40 poles to a sasafras. S 26 W 69 poles to a white oak. N 82 W 40-1/2 poles to the beginning containing by estimation 10 acres be the same more or less together with us and -------- the tenemants, hereditaments, appurtnances, and all the estate, title and interest of said party of the first part therein. And the part of the first part doth hereby covenant, and a// with said party of the second part that at the time of the delivery hereof, the said part of the first part is the lawful owner of the premises above granted, and seized thereof in fee simple, absolute, and that they will warrant and defend the above granted premises on the quiet and peacable possession of said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, forever, and no recourse on the land.

THIS INDENTURE, made this 19 day of Nov, A.D. 1906 between D. T. TEMPLIN, SR. of Cocke County, in the State of Tennessee of the first part and D. T. TEMPLIN JR. of the same County and State of the second part, WITNESSETH: That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTY TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS (transcriber's note: this is the amount exactly as it appears on the deed).

With said line north 69 E. 31 P. to a stake on said line with said line N. 2 E. 13 3/4 P. to a redbud WHITEHEADS Corner then N. 75 W 21 P., to a stake near the Spring then North 47 E. With the hereditaments and appurtenances hereto appertaining, hereby releasing all claim to homestead and dower therein.

TO HAE AND TO HOLD the said premises to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, forever. And the said party of the first part, for his self and for his heirs, executors, and administrators, do hereby covenant with the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, that, he is lawfully seized in fee simple of the premises above conveyed, and has full power, authority and right to convey the same; that said premises are free from all incumbrances and that he will forever warrant and defend the said premises and the title thereto against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.

This indenture made and entered into and agreed upon this 23 day of February 187?.

Between DAVID T. TEMPLIN and wife MARTHA M. TEMPLIN all of the COUNTY OF COCKE, STATE OF TENNESSEE of the one part and FELIX SHULTS of the other part witnesseth that the said DAVID T. TEMPLIN and wife have this day bargained and sold to FELIX SHULTS his heirs and assigns forever a parcel of lands lying in the COUNTY OF COCKE. DISTRICT NO 9 on the waters of BOGARD CREEK and adjoining the land of RUSSEL BRYANT, JACOB TEMPLIN and others and bounded as follows:

This indenture is made and concluded on this the FOURTH DAY OF JANUARY A. D. ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED & THIRTY NINE between JOSEPH HICKS & NANCY HICKS of the STATE OF TENNESSEE AND COUNTY OF COCKE of the one part and JACOB TEMPLIN of the state aforesaid and COUNTY OF WASHINGTON of the other part.

WITNESSETH that the said JOSEPH HICKS AND NANCY HICKS for & in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said JACOB TEMPLIN before the signing sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain, sell, release, confirm & convey unto him the said JACOB TEMPLIN his heirs and assigns forever five different pieces, parcels or tracts of land lying and being situated in the aforesaid STATE OF TENNESSEE & COUNTY OF COCKE on the waters of BOGUARD CREEK a water course of COSBY'S CREEK. An original deeded tract containing EIGHTY ACRES more or less which the said JOSEPH HICKS purchased of the HEIRS OF DAVID HICKS, deceased. Our containing ninety acres more or less out of a one hundred acres tract recently entered in the name of the said JOSEPH HICKS. One tract of twenty five acres mor or less entered in the name of THOMAS REYNOLDS & by him conveyed to the said JOSEPH HICKS. One tract of fifty acres mor or less entered in the name of said NANCY HICKS. And the other an eleven and three four acres tract also entered in the name of the said NANCY HICKS. But owing to the lines of said eleven and three fourth acres tract having been projected on older deeded lands it falls short of its real confintament. Which several tracts adjoin each other are hereby consolidated in one survey. The outward lines of which are herein only described. The same contains in all TWO HUNDRED FIFTY FIVE ACRES e the same more or less is otherwise described and bounded as follows to wit:

Beginning at a beech & dogwood on a line of said original deeded tract the second corner to said one hundred and ------ the lines of said entry to JEFFERSON DENTON'S lines, South twenty two East thirty four poles to three small beeches. South thirty four poles to a whiteoak on a point south forty eight West fifty four poles to a beech. South seventy two west eight poles to a gum. South fifty two West nineteen poles to a whiteoak and dogwood on the East bank of a branch North seventy four West croping on a branch & a small road one hundred seventy poles. North twenty two and a half East thirty three poles to a line of D. REYNOLDS - tract - with the lines of do South eighty one & a half West sixty poles North ten west twenty five poles to a stake near the top of a ridge and then do North fifty seven East sixty seven and a half poles. South sixty five East twenty four poles to a line of said ninety acre tract & with two lines of do North twenty two and a half East ten poles. South seventy one East thirty poles to an Ironwood corner to do line to said NANCY fifty acres entry with the outward lines of do North fifty five West forty two poles to a whiteoak. North seventeen East ten poles to a hickory. North thirty five East croping a branch twelve poles. South eight East thirty five poles to a pine corner to said fifty & said eleven and three fourth acre tracts and with two lines of the later. North eight East one hundred and thirty poles to a pine corner to do South eighty two East sixteen poles to a stake near HENRY CLICK'S fence. South ten East thirteen poles to a stake corner to said original deeded tract and with the outward lines of do South eighty seven and a half East twenty nine poles to a post oak. To have and to hold unto him the said JACOB TEMPLIN his heirs and assigns forever free from the claim themselves or other of them or any other person or persons whatever and the said JOSEPH HICKS AND NANCY HICKS do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said JACOB TEMPLIN that they will forever warrant maintain, and defend the title of said land from themselves their heirs execution of said administration all & every other person or persons whatever shall & will forever warrant & defend the same.

Know all men by these presents that ISAAC TEMPLIN, Administrator of the estate of JACOB TEMPLIN, Dec, late of a Citizen of Cocke County and State of Tennessee, has this day sold to RICHARD TEMPLIN of the County and State of aforesaid, for the same of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS, a certain tract , parcel of land situated and lying in the County of Cocke and State of Tennessee.

It being the land of JACOB TEMPLIN purchased in his life time from HEPSABUAHG CLICK, heir at law of the late HENRY CLICK, as will more fully a year by reference to a Deed of conveyance dated the twenty second of December, Eighteen hundred and fifty three signed the said HENRY CLICK and his daughter, and heir the said HEPSEBAUGH CLICK the boundaries of which are described as follows, being in DISTRICT NO NINE, containing by estimation TWENTY FIVE ACRES.

Beginning on a Post Oak a corner of JACOB TEMPLIN, then South 82 East, sixteen poles to a Post Oak and Red Oak, thence South 12-1/2 East eleven and a half poles to a stake, then South 84 East fifty seven 1/2 poles to a black oak, thence North forty eight poles to FINE, thence North 63 poles West fifty three poles to a small black oak, at the point of ridge, thence ??? point of Gald (?) Ridge South 39 West fifty two poles, to a small Hickory, then South 25 West twelve poles to the beginning.

The said administrator acknowledges the receipt in full of the said TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS in consideration whereof he does by these presents convey to the said RICHARD TEMPLIN his heirs and assigns, all the right and title which JACOB TEMPLIN and his lawful heirs, had to said tract of land, in as full and ample a manner, as he can do in virtue of his power as the lawful Administrator of the ESTATE of the said JACOB TEMPLIN, DEC.

The said tract of land lies in the COUNTY OF COCKE, STATE OF TENNESSEE in CIVIL DISTRICT NO 9th on the WATERS OF BOGARD CREEK (it being the tract of land that the said JACOB TEMPLIN resided on at his death, said tract containing THREE HUNDRED & FIFTY ACRES MORE OR LESS.

We the said JOHN N. TEMPLIN, MARY GIRL, & ISAAC TEMPLIN do further covenant with said RICHARD TEMPLIN that we are lawfully seized of said land as the HEIRS OF JACOB TEMPLIN have a good right to convey our undivided interest in said land. And that it is unincumbered. We do further obligate and bind ourselves and each of our heirs executors, and administrators firmly by these presents to WARRANT and defend all our right title claim and interest. We demand that we have as heirs in said undivided tract of land against ourselves our heirs and all manner of persone whatever as an indefeasible inheritance in fee simple to the aid RICHARD TEMPLIN his heirs and assigns forever.

This indenture made this 7th day of May A.D. 1894 between JAMES I. WATERS and wife, MARY WATERS, J. M. WATERS & D. F. WATERS of COCKE COUNTY in the STATE OF TENNESSEE of the first part and W. C. TEMPLIN of COCKE COUNTY, TENNESSEE of the second part.

WITNESSETH that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for the undivided interest in the TEMPLIN lands, being 4 tracts, to us we have paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and to secure the payment of said note a specific lien is hereby retained on the property here conveyed, have granted, bargained, sold, and conveyed, and do hereby grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part, the following described premises to wit, situated in district No 10 and bonded as follows:

Adjoining the lands of W. C. TEMPLIN & others containing 25 acres more or less. Beginning at a planted rock on the mountain are the original outline thence S, 69, W. 53 p. to a large chestnut, N. 43,W.16, p. to a large chestnut oak corner to WATER & W. C. TEMPLIN and with TEMPLINS line N.35. 54 P. N. 19 W, 84 1/4 p. to a stake near a road near the end of the lane. Then N. 48 E about 4 poles to a rock conditional CONNER made by W. C. TEMPLIN & WATERS. Then S 44 E 165 p. to the beginning.

With the heriditaments and appurtenances thereto appertaining, hereby releasing all claim to Homestead Deed & Dower therein, to have and to hold the said premises to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever.

Had the said parties of the first part for themselves and for their Heirs, Executors, and Administrators do hereby covenant with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns that they are lawfully seized in fee simple of the premises above conveyed and have full power, and authority and right to convey the same, that said premises are free from all incumbrances and that they will forever warrant and defend the said premises and the title thereto against the lawful claims of all person whomsoever.

Personally appeared before me, M. H. BIBER (?) DEPT CLERK OF THE COUNTY COURT OF COCKE CO, the within named bargainors, J. I. WATERS, DAVID WATERS, AND JANE WATERS, with whom I am personally acquainted, and who acknowledged that they executed the within instrument for the purposes therein contained and MARY WATERS wife, of the said J. I. WATERS have appeared before me privately and apart from her husband, the said MARY WATERS, acknowledged the execution of the said DEED to have been done by her freely, voluntarily, and understandingly, without compulsion or ---- from her said husband and for the purposes therein expressed. Witness M.H. Biherd, Dept Clerk of said Court, at office this 7th day of May A. D. Eighteen hundred and ninety four.
