HILL/PETTY/SMITH I know someone knows something about my grt-grandmother. She said she was Anges HILL but her first name was prob. Mary and she may have been a PETTY before her mother remarried or after. She married as a HILL. She somehow had connections to the Benjamin SMITH family in Franklin Co. by the time she was 18 because he signed for her 1st marriage. She may have had a sister named Betina(Bethina). She is rumoured to have a brothe named Esco SMITH (those SMITHs again) who committed a murder in Tullahoma before fleeing for Tx. Her second marr. was to Joel McCutcheon ANDERSON in Franklin Co. in 1882. They had children named Lenard Clayton, Luna May, Willard Prockley, Allen Jefferson, Vada, Lillian Jetty, and three unk. She was very secretive and none of her grandchildren knew anything about her. They went to Texas with some SMITHs. The SMITHs went to Grapevine. The ANDERSONs ended up in Stephenville (Erath Co.) Agnes lived in the Tullohama area before she married Joel. Her mother lived across "the river" but no one ever heard of a father. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone out there. I am desparate!!! PS she is also related to the Rueben and Levi WHITFIELD familes but we dont know what relation.
