I am looking for any information available on the KINCAID family concerning the life and death of John KINCAID, II., killed in 1865 at the end of the Civil War? Does anyone know the circumstances around this death? Were the murderers ever brought to trial? Were their names ever made known? Was the death of John KINCAID, II., connected to John KINCAID, III, killing John VAN BEBBER and David CAWOOD in CLAIBORNE County in March 1865? Does anyone know who killed Sterling Cox KINCAID in April, 1865 at STINER's Store? Why was he killed. These events all took place at the end of the Civil War

I'd like to exchange information with anyone interested in the SOWDER, OWENS, and HOPPER families who were in Claiborne County between 1790 and 1850. In particular, ADDAM SOWDER (b: 1765), his wife ELIZABETH MCFARLAND, and their daughter KATHARINE SOWDER (b:1791). Katharine married MATHEW OWENS in 1813. I'd like to confirm that Mathew is the son of JACOB OWENS. Mathew and Katharine moved from Claiborne to Pulaski County, KY about 1844. I'm also interested in finding the parents of MARTHA HOPPER (b:1827 or 1832 in TN). I suspect that she is the daughter of one of HARMON HOPPER's sons but can't confirm this. Martha married DANIEL OWENS who is the son of Mathew and Katharine.
