Know all men by these presents That we James Grant, Hugh Montgomery John Owens and Benjamin Wheeler are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency John Sevier Governor and his Successors in Office in the sum of five thousand Dollars, to which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs etc, jointly and severaly firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this second Day of December 1806.

The condition of the above Obligation is such that Whereas the above bounden James Grant hath been appointed Clerk of the Court of pleas and Quarter sessions of the County of Campbell in the State of Tennessee. Now if the said James Grant shall faith- fully Discharge the Duties of said Office and seasona- bly record the Decrees, Judgments and Determenations of the said Court. And also faithfully collect all Monies arising from fines and forfeitures, Taxes on Law Proceedings, On the Probate of Deeds and ordinary Licen- ses Stores, Studs etc. Then the Above Obligation to be void Otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue Test
