I sold my Land Warrant to Wm. Carey, now dead of Jacksboro, TN. His memory is very defective, but he remembers that James Dossett, Isaac Duncan, John C. Chiles, and James Dail were comrades who served with him in Raid Company. Col. Yocumn (Yocuum), May Julian, Capt. Andrew, and J. Dossett. Others that he served with and they received Bounty Land for service under Capt Dossett . Andrew Dossett-Captain, James Dossett, Isaac Duncan, and James J. Dail

"It has been suggested to me that formerly my family name was spelled "Smithers" which may be recorded that way; but I am told that it frequently appears both ways, but of late years it is commonly spelled "Smiddy"." May 93
