This indenture made this twenty second day of February eighteen hundred and twenty two between Thomas Chapman of the County of Knox and the State of Tennessee of the one part and Jesse Turbeville of the same place of the other part witness that the said Thomas Chapman for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath said by these presents doeth

Grant bargain sell all - - - -in(?) enpp - - -off(?) and confirm unto the said Jesse Turbeville his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract a parcel of land cituate (situate) in the county of campbell and state aforesaid included within the following county being to within a bend on Powel's River known and distinquished by the name of Brown's bend and is part of the lower half of lot II (or 11) within the Hendersons Powell Valley Survey and is part of the same conveyed on the eleventh day of June eighteen hundred and one by Robert Burton and Archibald Henderson surviving executors of the last will and testament of Richard Henderson dec'd (deceased) to Robert Houston and by him conveyed to Thomas Chapman on the twenty third day of February 1819 Butted (?) and bounded as follows. Beginning on the bank of the river on James Crowleys Line opposite a place called the turnpike then up the several meandors (Meadows) of Powell's River to the division line run through the said lot thence with in the division line of said river thence with the meandor (Meadow) meandors (Meadows) of the river

To the sd (?) James Crowley's - - - - - - - (?) line then with his the said Crowley's line to the beginning containing two hundred acres to the - - - - - -(?) more or less with all and singular the woods water watercourses profits commodities hereditaments (?) & appaurtanances (?) there to belonging or in any ways appoutaning & the revearsion (?) rents (?) and issues, thereof and all the Estate tille interest property claims and demand of him the said Thomas Chapman his heirs and assigns forever of in and to the same & every part and particle thereof either in law or equity to have and to hold the said two hundred acres of land be the same more or less with the appurtances (?) unto the said Jesse Turbeville his heirs and assigns forever against their lawful title claim & demand of all and every person or persons Whatever will warrant and forever demand in witness where of the said Thomas Chapman hath here unto set his hand and seal the day and year above written signed sealed and delivered

**** Document blemished. I believed the dark spot on the document between "Tho" and "Chapman" being his mark, an "X". Further directly underneath is more of a blemish with "ark" only showing. There by meaning "his mark."
