M. L. & James Breeden

"M.L. Breeden, 56, was instantly killed by lightning last night at 8:oo p.m. at his home on Ladd Springs Road. (Feb. 22, 1927) Breeden was standing on the hearth of the fireplace in his bare feet when the bolt hit the chimney, tearing a hole in the ceiling and killing him instantly. A clock was knocked from the mantel and stopped at 7:25 o'clock.
He was an employee of the Cleveland Chair Company and is survived by his wife and son Roy of Bradley County. Funeral services will be held Thursday at Hopewell Baptist Church, Whitfield County, Georgia.


Will's death notice read:"James W. Breeden, 54, Victim of Pneumonia James Willis Breeden,54, died at his home near Big Springs this morning at 9:00 after two weeks illlness.(1930) He is survived by his wife, four daughters: Stella Harris, Fina Rose, Ruth Breeden of Cleveland and Onie McDaniel of Chattanooga; one son, Floyd Breeden of Cleveland. Six grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home. " Note: These two men were the sons of William M Breeden and Dorcas Loveday Breeden, both born in Sevier County, Tn. James Willis Breeden is buried in Fort Hill Cemetery, Cleveland, Tn.
