Check out Grundy & Sullivan Counties

News around the TNGenWeb this week brings about site updates for Grundy & Sullivan counties!

David Johnson, coordinator for DeKalb county, recently adopted Grundy County and reformatted the site for easier access to records of different format types.  Some of the more extensive information you’ll find on the site includes a compilation of death certificate abstracts from 1908-1925 and an index to deeds from 1852-1857.   Be sure to let David know if you have material that would be relevant for the county.  Visit the “What’s New” page to stay aware of site updates.

Additionally, Sullivan County has a fresh look.  Sharon Steele-Smith is your coordinator and has jumped into her first county coordinator role with a vengeance.  The Sullivan site is still in the midst of some transitions  so please be patient as we work out the kinks – all the old pages are still currently accessible via a link from the front page of the site.  Sharon has great contributors on board with her and plans to enhance the cemetery listings on the site. Yours truly will be also help to add transcriptions from historical newspapers.  To stay up-to-date as new material is added to the site you can subscribe to the RSS feed or sign up to receive all new updates to go directly to your email account (instructions on the rights side of the site).  Enjoy!

  1. I am glad there is people that care about these sites to upgrade them. I don’t have enough computer knoledge or i would attempt to do one.

  2. Hi David – so glad you like the sites. Even if you don’t feel you can do one, we certainly welcome contributions. Would you perhaps be interested in helping to transcribe data for a site if we supplied you with images (like of old newspapers or other documents?). Is there a specific county you have an interest in?
