William Riggs & Sarah Jenkins Family

William George RIGGS was born March 11, 1828, in the area of what is now
Birmingham, AL.  He died March 31, 1909, Holladay, Benton Co., TN and is
buried in Flatwoods Cemetery, Holladay, Benton Co., TN.

He was the son of Jesse and Melinda RIGGS and brother to my gr
grandfather, Isah Calvin RIGGS. (submitter Peggy Riggs Kopp)

William George married Sarah Evelyn JENKINS, b. June 23, 1832, in
Humphrey or Perry Co., TN, in 1850, Decatur Co., TN.  Sarah died March
22, 1908, Holladay, and is also buried at Flatwoods Cemetery.

They had 10 children, 7 who survived: 
James Granville, Mary Cansady, Aura Almeda, Martha Ann, Roena J.,
and Pinkney Lafayette RIGGS.

William George, Evelyn and the 7 children are shown on the 1870 Decatur
Co., TN census, Perryville, P.O., Dwelling 87, Series M593, Roll 1524,
p. 71, with Value of Real Estate: $1,000 and Value of Personal Estate
$1,000.

On the 1900 Benton Co., TN census,  District 2, Series T623, Roll 1557,
Page 210, William George, age 72, and Sarah, age 67 are shown at
dwelling 229, family 230, along with their grandson, Lonzo, age 10, b.
March 1890, KY.
