MOORE CHAPEL CEMETERY

            Moore Chapel Cemetery is a well-maintained black cemetery on Manley Chapel Road in the McIllwain Community in southern Benton County. It lies on the opposite side of the road and about 150 yards north of Friendship C. M. E. Church. There may be 150 or more unmarked graves.

            David Donahue recorded Moore Chapel Cemetery on July 21, 2004. Jonathan K. T. Smith recorded Moore Chapel cemetery in January 1995 and revisited the cemetery in December 1997. His record of the cemetery is included in his Tombstone Inscriptions from Black Cemeteries in Benton County, Tennessee. This is referred to as Smith in notes below.
