1. James Andrew1 Cuff was born 1762 in Northern Ireland, and died June 7, 1851 in Benton Co., TN. He married Margaret Reece Bef. 1780 in Northern Ireland. She was born Abt. 1765 in Northern Ireland, and died Bef. 1837 in Rutherford Co., TN.
Notes for James Andrew Cuff:
James Andrew Cuff left Northern Ireland around 1780. He was living in South Carolina in 1788. There, he engaged in rice growing. Between 1810-1813, the family migrated to Hurricane Creek, a tributary of Stones River in Rutherford Co., Tennessee. They settled on a 100 acre farm near the Davidson County line (about 12 miles from Nashville).
In late February or early March 1837, the family moved to Beaverdam Valley, Benton Co., Tennessee. James Andrew Cuff is buried in the Flatwoods Cemetery in Benton Co., Tennessee.

Notes for David Cuff:
David Cuff migrated from South Carolina to Rutherford Co., Tennessee around 1810-13. David was a Private in 2 Reg. MTD TN Vols. in the War of 1812-15. In 1837, David migrated to Benton County Tennessee. David acquired considerable land holdings in the upper Beaverdam valley in the 10th District of Benton County.

Notes for Benjamin R. Cuff:
The Civil War: Captain Pridgeon M. Melton organized Benton County men into the 55th TN Infantry, Company B of the CSA, at Trenton on October 9, 1861. This company was raised with 88 men from Benton County. They were ordered to Columbus, KY. Further, they were in most of the battles that the Army of Tennessee fought and was present at the surrender of General Johnson's Army in North Carolina. They were paroled at Greensboro, NC on May 1, 1865.
Captain Melton listed the following Cuffs in his Company: Andrew J. (died 1863), Benjamin R., David Sylvester (disabled in battle at Atlanta), Francis A. (discharged in 1863), Joseph C. (died 1862), and John M. Cuff.

Notes for Dewitt Collins:
My uncle Dewitt "Dee" was born on April 13, 1894 and was a World War I veteran. I think that he had stomach wounds from the war. At the time he died, he owned a restaurant in Fulton, Kentucky. He was very successful. He was married, but I do not know if he had children.
Dee had just bought a new Chevrolet. I think he wreaked it on the same day. The accident occurred on August 2, 1937 on the highway from Fulton to Martin, just over the Tennessee line. He rolled his new car. He was admitted to the Fulton Hospital at 3:15pm and died at 5:15pm with a fractured scull.
Winstead and Jones of Martin was the undertaker. He had a military service and was buried on August 4, 1937 at Johnson's Grove, Obion County, Tennessee. I attended his funeral.

Patient at the Vet. Admin. Hospital in Marion, IL eight weeks prior to death. Will and Jenny bought a new home in Marion the summer of 1992. The move was completed and they were enjoying their new activities. Will enjoyed many friends in church and in the community. Wood carving was one of his hobbies, and he developed a high level of skill in this. He enjoyed toy trains and had set up an extensive train and track system in his home. Will was ordained to the Baptist Ministry late in life and held part time pastorates. He also served as a Chaplain at the VA Hospital in Marion for several months.
