I’m Ron Evans from Powell, Tennessee.
The Powell community is located in Knox County along the Knox County/Anderson County line.
I’ve been doing genealogy research since 1980. My Father was born near Andersonville, Tennessee at the Anderson County/Union County line. My Grandmother, Minnie Humphrey, and many of her ancestors lived in Anderson County since the 1820s, so a lot of my research focus has been in the Anderson County area.
I’ve been a member of the Anderson County Historical Society (formerly the Pellissippi Genealogical and Historical Society) since 1999. I served as President and Vice President for several years.
I volunteered to maintain the Anderson County TnGenWeb site in 2011. The original Anderson County TNGenWeb site was pure HTML and hosted on Geocities. When Yahoo closed Geocities, the website went away. With the guidance of Taneya Koonce and Billie McNamara, I started moving the information that could be recovered from the Geocities website to WordPress. Once the site was restored with a lot of the original information, new information has been provided by various contributors.
I would like to serve on the TnGenWeb board because I’m excited about the new projects that are being discussed. I would like to contribute and help refine the ideas as well as present new ideas as they emerge.
